Sam Cotton
Originally from Scotland, Sam is an experienced psychotherapist and a trauma-aware group facilitator and specialises in working with gay male clients. He runs a busy psychotherapy private practice in central London, UK. He continually works with themes of sex, eroticism and relationships in both his work with other men, and his personal journey.
In 2007, Sam initially trained as a solution-focused psychotherapist and hypnotherapist and is now looking back on almost twenty years and thousands of hours of experience, in working with groups individuals in the therapy and personal development space.
In 2015, Sam completed his training with the Hoffman Institute and went on to become a Senior Teacher of the Hoffman Process – an intensive, long-running, seven-day immersive transformational retreat. This gave him the opportunity of working in depth with diverse groups of people from all over the world, guiding them through deeply transformational work in a residential setting. As well as teaching the Hoffman Process regularly near London, this work also took Sam to Austria and the United States.
He has also delivered the Addiction Treatment Programme at The Priory, holding groups, presenting psychoeducational and experiential workshops and facilitating daily group process therapy.
In 2018 Sam completed the one-year Authentic Eros immersive training in Berlin, working with other gay/queer men, and developing both his experiential and his practical learning of eroticism in the queer space. He has also completed the ‘Osho’ informed ‘Path of Love’ experiential training, giving him a solid grounding in energy work, as well as various Vipassana meditation retreats in the UK and abroad.
Sam also spent a year working and living as a volunteer coordinator in the gay-run Kalani jungle community, on the Big Island of Hawaii.
He holds Postgraduate Diplomas in Solution Focused Therapy, Addiction Psychology, Advanced Couples’ Psychotherapy and is also an Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist. Sam’s training and experience informs his work in the tantra space and helps create a strong container of safety and depth.
Along with his friend and colleague Armand, Sam facilitates the Erotic Gateway series of workshops – regular events in London for gay men to connect sexually and emotionally with each other.
